The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me,

    because the Lord has anointed me

    to proclaim good news to the poor.

He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,

    to proclaim freedom for the captives

    and release from darkness for the prisoners,[a]

2 to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor

    and the day of vengeance of our God

Today we begin our series working through Isaiah 61 which will finish on our key verse. These next few weeks will help to establish a context to verse 11 as we get to grips with it, listening to what God wants to say to us through this passage for today and for  this coming year.

After today's 10.30 service we will have our church members meeting, preceeded by a special church meeting where we will making a decision on Pr Paulo becoming the pastor for the Portuguese-speaking congregation. Please spend time praying about this whether you'll be in the meeting or not. Thank you.

Please continue to pray for Nigel at this time too, and I would also like to take this opportunity to thank so many of you who have been a great blessing to me personally as I've been taking on extra responsibilities. This is indeed a great church to be a part of.
