I’m Dave, the Youth, Families and Children’s Minister here at DBC (started Aug 2017). I’m married to Beckie and we have two lovely children, Josiah and Gideon, both now adults.
I was brought up in a village near Dereham then moved away after getting married. We returned here in 2002 as I got a job working for a local Youth For Christ centre. After the 5 year stint with YFC we went to Brazil where we lived and worked in a community centre in a favela (slum) for 4 years. On return, I worked for the Congregational Federation across East Anglia as a Mission Enabler – helping churches engage with and reach out into their local communities. And now…here I am as the Associate Minister.
My passions are people, mission and community – seeing God’s mission worked out through the community of his people. Families are central to this and often young people and children are left on the edge but Jesus’ intention is that they are brought close to him and not hindered by others. I get a sense that God is going to do amazing things in and through these groups in the coming years – these are exciting times.
To relax, I walk, chop wood, play bass (double and electric) and love conversation about God and life stuff.
