Hosanna to the Son of David!
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!
Hosanna in the highest heaven! Matthew 21:9
Happy Palm Sunday everyone! (I got the right day! No Facepalm Sunday this year!)
Today is a day for Hosannas! The Hebrew word literally means “save, we pray” and by the time Jesus entered Jerusalem for the last time, it had become a shout of praise: “Save us!” And, of course, he did, not with powerful force like they were expecting, but with painful sacrifice. And so, if you have put your trust in Jesus, you can shout ‘Hosanna’ today as an expression of praise and thanks for his act of salvation on the cross. Why not shout it now? (No doubt to the surprise of anyone else in your house!)
Today, we have the final part of our 8-week series in which we’ve been discerning our God-given SHAPE. Continuing on from last week, we will be looking at the second part of our key verse for this year, Song of Songs 2:4. What does it mean to “let his banner over me be love”? How does that impact all that we are and all that we do? Dave is on annual leave today, so I’m delighted that one of our elders, Trevor Humphrey, is coming down to lead alongside me. PLEASE CLICK HERE to engage with the livestream from around 10am. The service will begin at 10.30am.
Last Sunday, we shared a couple of links to a “SHAPE profile” that you can complete with all the different learnings and reminders you have received about how God has designed you and what he might be calling you to do. Here they are again: The PDF version is HERE, and the Excel version is HERE. If you would like Julie to send you a printed version then please do send her an email.
You still have a few days left to try and win our Album of the Month, which is by ‘Delirious?’ PLEASE CLICK HERE to watch Paul’s introduction and enjoy three songs from the album.
