The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son,
and they will call him Immanuel’ (which means ‘God with us’).
Good morning/afternoon/evening church!
Today is the first Sunday of Advent and we have another online service for you to engage with and enjoy. Thanks to all those who were involved in creating it and putting it together – we are very blessed at DBC to have so many capable and willing people. In the all-age slots through December, the Farmer family will be helping us to think about the meanings of the four advent candles, so you might want to have a candle ready to light. It doesn’t have to be anything special – tea-lights will be fine! The service can be accessed by clicking here.
Thank you for the lovely responses to yesterday’s story. If you would like to buy it to give to someone for Christmas, a book version of the story is available from Green Pastures, who, following recent clarity from the Government, will now be fully reopen this coming Wednesday (2nd December) from 10am. I know the Green Pastures team would be delighted to see you there in the coming days.
Finally, a reminder that we are planning to run services at DBC for up to sixty people each Sunday in December until Christmas. We will still be posting a virtual service on our YouTube channel, but also offer you an invitation to come into a safe environment to meet with God together. We do understand that some will not feel that this is right for them at this time, and if this is the case for you, please don’t feel under any pressure to attend – you will continue to be as much part of the church as you engage with our online service from your home. However, if you would like to sign up to attend services at DBC, then watch out for the links in the coming week.
Advent blessings to you all,
