Keep me safe, my God, for in you I take refuge.
I say to the Lord, ‘You are my Lord; apart from you I have no good thing. Psalm 16:1-2
I found these opening verses from Psalm 16 really helpful last week when they came up as part of the Lectio 365 app. Only God can keep us safe and only in him do we have anything that is good. I found it an encouraging and challenging reminder. Lectio 365 is a free daily devotional app from 24/7 prayer and is available on the Play Store or the App Store. It is focussed on scripture and uses the P.R.A.Y. mnemonic (Pause, Reflect, Ask, Yield). I’ve found it really helpful and thought that it might perhaps be something you could use at as part of your daily time with God.
I’m very thankful to Gwen Swords who has provided today’s message. She emailed us with some helpful truths she has garnered from a couple of books she has been reading recently, and we felt they would be an encouragement to all. So we are delighted that she has recorded them in a video for us, which you can access by clicking here.
Also, following on from Sunday’s (and Monday’s) message, Richard Shand has shared a bible study on Acts 10, which he put together a few years ago based on Tom Wright’s book, ‘Acts for Everyone’. So, if you want to reflect further on the Peter & Cornelius scenario and think about how it applies to our own world views, then you can download Richard’s bible study by clicking here.
All this talk of books reminds me to remind you that Green Pastures is fully open for business, and you can pop in to make your purchases (they are COVID-19 safe in line with Government guidelines), or you can contact them over the phone on 01362 697953. I am certain that any business you put their way will be a huge blessing to them, and to you!
David finishes Psalm 16 with these words: You make known to me the path of life;
you will fill me with joy in your presence,
with eternal pleasures at your right hand. Psalm 16:11
My prayer is that you will experience God’s presence today and be filled with joy and with eternal pleasures as you walk the path of life with him.
