Dereham Baptist Church, partnering with Green Pastures Christian Bookshop and the community-based charity, Love Dereham, has moved into the Green Pastures Community Hub at 20 Norwich Street, Dereham.
On 28th May, after several weeks of intense renovation work, the Green Pastures Community Hub opened to the public ahead of a busy official Open Day on 1st June.
THE PROJECT VISION
Green Pastures Bookshop has taken over the street-facing retail area
which used to be Adcocks (formerly Bennetts) electrical store.
Through the shop there is open access to the Community Area which is used by DBC and Love Dereham for Community-based activities during shop opening hours – including the new base for the Community Fridge. Now furnished with comfortable chairs and small tables this area is partitioned off when the shop is shut to provide a separate meeting place for a range of activities.
Across the passageway behind the shop, the Hub includes two other rooms.
There is an upper office area to be used for administration by Love Dereham (and later, the Christians Against Poverty (CAP) centre).
Lastly, at street level, there is a small unit which will be used as a quiet space by DBC and on certain days by 4Cs Counselling Service (currently based in our church premises).
We are so grateful to God for the many people who through their time, abilities and generous gifts made this possible and already we are seeing new people enjoy the Hub as a place of friendship, encouragement and spiritual enrichment.
Please continue to pray that many will be touched by the transforming love and power of God through the various ministries within the Hub.
