Some news from Green Pastures Christian Bookshop
James 1:17 [NIV] Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.
Richard Shand, one of the Managers writes: “We would like to share three things on behalf of Green Pastures regarding ‘heavenly gifts’:
Firstly: We have ‘Listen Up’ teams in the shop on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The Listen-Up teams gift their time to be available in Green Pastures for anybody who wants to have a sympathetic listener. Very recently, for example, we were introduced to an East European young woman who really needs an occasional friendly face and sympathetic listener.
The time given by the Listen Up teams is a gift from God
Secondly: The Community Fridge – Green Pastures hosts this initiative in partnership with Love Dereham and Breckland Council.
We live in a world where nobody believes there is such thing as a free lunch (to quote Henry Ford). So people come into the shop shyly and timidly because it is difficult to accept that all the food in the fridge is for anybody – for free! It comes from shops and cafes but what they discard meets somebody’s need.
So really, it is a gift from God.
Thirdly and similarly, a Christian bookshop in Felixstowe closed down recently and gave all their gifts, CDs and cards to Green Pastures. At Green Pastures we are always facing financial challenges so….
This also is a gift from God!
For us, the management and trustees of Green Pastures, these three happenings make us feel that God is saying: “You are my presence on Dereham High Street – I am doing something through you and I am supporting you. Keep doing this!”
